FREE Fontilicious Findings – Handwriting Fonts

Hello fellow art enthusiasts!

Each Friday (or thereabouts :) ), I will post a new Fontilicious Finding. These will be fonts that I have found around in digi-land that are useful for Scrapbook Layouts, Digital Journal Pages, Hybrid works of art, etc.

To start this new “column” off, I thought I would share one of my absolute favorite places to get fonts that look hand-written. Many thanks to Edeena Cross, one of our Altered Hearts Alumni, for bringing this site to our attention, which is now my go-to site for free hand-written fonts.

For those who are curious about the Terms of Use for Amanda’s Fonts, she has very generous Terms. Be sure and check out her site for the full disclosure of terms.

YOU MAY

  • You may use the fonts for your own personal use and / or non-profit use.
  • You may use the fonts on your personal webpage / blog.
  • You may use the fonts for non-profit organizations.
  • You may use the fonts in personal layouts/projects that will be posted to online galleries and submitted to magazines for publication, as long as the font name and a link towww.kevinandamanda.com is given.

COMMERCIAL USE

If you’d like to use the fonts for commercial use, including, but not limited to digital scrapbooking kits, logos, blog design, eBay or Etsy product pages, business cards, e-books, or any type of art that will be used for the purpose of selling or generating income, please read the following terms.

You may use the fonts for commercial purposes at no charge if and only if you prominently display one of my blog buttons, found here, with a link back to my site on your blog/webpage. The button may be placed in your sidebar (preferred) or on a credits/links page, but not just a single post about the fonts (although you’re certainly welcome to do that in addition to adding the button to your sidebar! :) ) For Etsy stores, a link in the store profile is sufficient.

If you cannot or prefer not to display a button, you may purchase a commercial use license for a single font, or for all the fonts provided on kevinandamanda.com.

Along with providing all these fonts for free, Amanda also takes requests for turning a person’s own handwriting into one of her fonts. If you are interested in having your own font, check out this page here. While Amanda does not select every font that is sent to her for font creation (only those following her directions to a “T” are considered), you can create your very own font for $10.00 at YourFonts.com. This is a great, inexpensive way to get one or two custom fonts.

For those of us that want a font from every person we’ve ever loved, $10.00 a font can start adding up. If you see many customized fonts in your future, then I would recommend heading over to High-Logic and checking out their product called ScanAHand. With their template page and a scanner, creating those custom fonts just became available to all of us.

Have a favorite font? PLEASE share a link to your favorite font and then post a reply letting us know. I love discovering new fonts to add to my ever-growing library!
